Sami Salo's return to the ice didn't last long.
The Vancouver Canucks defenceman will miss four weeks with a broken rib, the team said Friday.
Salo was hurt in Wednesday night's 4-2 home win over Edmonton, his first night back after missing three games with a bad groin.
The Oilers' Ethan Moreau drove Salo hard into the end boards, sending the defenceman to the ice. Salo got up slowly and appeared to be favouring one side of his upper body.
No penalty was called on the play.
Salo, 34, has 10 points (two goals) and a plus-two rating in 25 games this season, his sixth with the Canucks.
Vancouver hosts the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night (CBC, CBCSports.ca, 10 p.m. ET).
