Rapper Dr. Dre's son dies at 20
Rapper Dr. Dre, whose real name is André Young, has lost his 20-year-old son, his publicist said Tuesday.
"Dr. Dre is mourning the loss of his son André Young Jr.," publicist Lori Earl said in a statement.
Young Jr. was found unresponsive Saturday by his mother at their home in Woodland Hills, Calif. Paramedics were called, but Young was pronounced dead.
An autopsy was performed Monday but no cause of death has yet been declared.
Dr. Dre, current chief executive of Aftermath Records and former co-owner of Death Row Records, is best known for his 1992 album The Chronic. He has also been an influential producer and contributor to other hip-hop recordings.
His final solo album, Detox, much delayed by the wrangling over ownership of Death Row Records, is scheduled for a 2008 release.
