Wanted: 1 singer, apply online to Velvet Revolver
Guitarist Slash says Velvet Revolver will audition online to get a vocalist to replace Scott Weiland, who was dismissed from the band April 1.
"The band is actually talking about actually building a website [and] doing some auditions via that, so that's been something that's developing at this point," Slash told Billboard.com.
Weiland has said he will be fronting his former band, Stone Temple Pilots, this summer after he and the band split in a blast of venom earlier this month.
Velvet Revolver is scrambling for talent to cover upcoming engagements.
At a gig in Las Vegas, it plans a revolving door of what Slash refers to as "well-known people" to sing various numbers.
He told Billboard he doesn't know what the band wants from its next singer.
"We're at that point of just listening to different things … it's one of those kind of situations where you can't really explain it to anybody because you'll know it when you hear it," he said.
