Come hear the music play: Liza's back

Singer Liza Minnelli is expected to resume her touring in mid-January after collapsing during a show in Sweden on Dec. 12, according to her lawyer.

Allen Arrow said his client will be ready for her scheduled performance in Providence, R.I., on Jan. 12 and told her fans "not to worry."

Arrow said the 61-year-old entertainer is going back to rehearsals at the end of the week, almost three weeks after she passed out as she was walking offstage in Goteborg, Sweden. Minnelli returned to the U.S. the following day to seek advice from her doctors.

Her lawyer would not elaborate on the nature of her health problems, and only said she was doing fine now. He did, however, indicate that Minnelli was very ill on Dec. 12.

"She was that sick. You wonder why she had the courage to get on the stage when she shouldn't have."

After her collapse, Minnelli's spokeswoman, Liz Rosenberg, said the singer "had complained of dizziness" before the show.

Minnelli, the daughter of Judy Garland, won an Oscar for her portrayal of Sally Bowles in the 1972 film Cabaret, based on the highly acclaimed stage show.

She also captured an Emmy for the 1972 TV special Liza With a Z, as well as Tony Awards in 1974 and 1978.
